Invisalign is a type of clear aligner therapy. There's a series of trays. They're clear, invisible trays that get seated. You change these trays every two weeks typically. Each tray is customized to move the teeth slightly, slightly, slightly closer to the ideal. Invisalign is case-specific. For the treatment to work, those trays have to be worn 24 hours a day, except when eating and brushing.

If that presents a challenge, I don't recommend that a patient chooses Invisalign. But if they are, a lot of my Invisalign patients love their treatment. They are happy with the visibility or really lack thereof, and they're happy with the results that they're getting. The treatment process begins with a scan, and that scan is directly sent to Invisalign, and the Invisalign lab custom designed trays to fit those teeth and to move them toward the ideal.

There are certain things that we often have to do during the treatment. We often have to slenderize teeth or place little buttons or attachments, things that facilitate the movement. That is why we don't recommend any do-it-yourself approaches because it can be quite dangerous. Invisalign gives very detailed instructions as to what the doctors are going to do.
